Nathalie Laure Meuwly

Nathalie began her academic journey at EPFL, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. During her undergraduate studies, she completed an exchange year at Instituto Superior Técnico in Lisbon, deepening her expertise in chemical sciences within an international context.
Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Chemistry at EPFL, Nathalie focuses on the intersection of material chemistry, biochemistry, and sustainability. Her research experience is diverse, ranging from the optimization of biobased epoxy resins to the self-assembly of fungal polysaccharides for sustainable packaging. She furthered her industrial expertise during a six-month internship at Bloom Biorenewables, where she focused on the synthesis and scale-up of “white lignin,” as well as the development of lignin-based emulsions for the cosmetic and agrifood sectors. Nathalie has now joined the SusBioComp group to conduct her Master’s thesis, focusing on improving the moisture sensitivity of biomass-derived composite bioplastics by implementing lignin nanoparticles.
