Jaya Baranwal

Ms. Jaya Baranwal earned her bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, and Physics in the year 2017. She obtained her Master’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Lucknow in India in the year 2019. During her Masters, she focused on Medicinal chemistry research and completed a project on the production of novel fluorescent compounds for the detection of specific G-Quadruplex DNA structures. From 2019 and up to 2021, she worked at one of India’s premier institutes, the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) on the Synthesis of Quinolinium derivatives for nucleic acid interaction. From april 2021 to July 2023 Ms. Jaya Baranwal worked as a Project associate at the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), an Intergovernmental United Nations organisation, based in New Delhi, India. In September 2023 she joined the Sustainable Biocomposite Materials Group, at POLYMAT for the completion of her PhD at the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU, under the supervision of Dr. Danila Merino.
